It’s time to check your shelves (and stacks) for overdue library books. We’d like to get them back as soon as possible. Then you can get some new items for summer reading!

Get ready for Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Wesley Church!
Are you ready to get in on all the VBS fun? There’s still time to register a child or sign up to volunteer. Use our VBS webpage to complete your registration. For more information, please contact Ms. Deb.
This year at VBS, we want to serve God together by collecting items for Backpack Buddies! When school isn’t open during the summer months, some families struggle to provide food for their children. We want to work together to help others have enough food! Through VBS week, we’ll be encouraging children to bring snack or lunch items as an offering each day. At the end of the week, we will deliver these items to the New Bethany Ministries Food Pantry and the Northampton Food Bank.
You can help by bringing donation items this Sunday (June 25) or thorughout VBS week. Suggested donation items include:
Thank you for your generosity!
Throughout the last several months, a dedicated group of Wesley folks have been providing the sweets and treats for our weekly fellowship hour. We’re giving them a break over the summer months… but we want to keep the connections going! Can you help provide sweets or treats for an upcoming fellowship hour? Use our online signup or use the hard copy version posted in the atrium. Possible items include baked goods, fruit, cheese trays, and more. (Baked goods may be store-bought or homemade. When you provide items, please note whether your items contain common allergens such as nuts, gluten, milk, and eggs.)
Support our annual “We Got Your Back” backpack festival by participating in our fundraiser! On Sunday May 7 (just a couple of days after Cinco de Mayo), join us in Fellowship Hall after worship for a build-your-own-taco-(or taco salad) bar. Your freewill donation will benefit the backpack program.
Doing some spring cleaning? The Backpack Team is collecting bags of clothes (etc.) to raise funds for our supplies. Bring your bags of clothing and place them in the collection cubby by the education wing anytime between now and Sunday June 11.
Collections for SNU — that is, “socks & underwear” — are now underway! We are looking for new packages of socks in child/youth small, medium, and large sizes, as well as underwear in sizes 4 through 20. Leave your donations in the bin in front of the church or give them to any Backpack Team member.
Recently, we applied for the Wesley Community Garden to be named one of the USDA’s People’s Gardens in our country. What does this mean? It means we commit to the following mission: ”People’s Gardens empower communities to participate in local food production and provide diversity and resiliency to the food supply chain. They also teach about the benefits of sustainable, local agriculture and how gardening can foster community collaboration, provide green gathering spaces, and benefit the environment.” Learn more about USA People’s Gardens here.

This Sunday, May 28, we celebrate the Day of Pentecost — the day that we recognize as the birthday of the church! How can we celebrate Pentecost?
Turn to Acts 2:1-42 to read the story of the Day of Pentecost, the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples and empowered them to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world.
Red is the color of Pentecost, symbolizing the supernatural flames that are part of the Pentecost story. It’s a longstanding tradition in the church to wear red in celebration of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit.
It wouldn’t be a church celebration without food, right? Join us in the atrium after worship to celebrate Pentecost Sunday with Pentecost Sundaes! We’ll top vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce (to signify the tongues of fire), Dove chocolates (to signify the Holy Spirit), and an optional “cherry” on top — an Atomic Fireball candy (more fire!).
