“Children at Play?”

June 25, 2018 By wesleychurch25

Bible Text: Zechariah 8:1-8 | Preacher: Pastor Andy Krpata | Series: Signs of Faith

Along with introducing our Signs of Faith series, we’ll join in the fun and celelbrate Vacation Bible School, which occurred this week. Looking at the road sign Children at Play, and Zechariah 8:1-8, we’ll remind ourselves of the joy and blessing of the church’s children! Come and hear the kids yell, “Jesus rescues!”

“Who Are You Listening To?”

Bible Text: 1 Samuel 3:1-20 | Preacher: Pastor Andy Krpata

Samuel’s classic “call” story is more than just a story about him. It’s about his inability to recognize the Lord’s voice, at least for a time. Without Eli, one wonders if he would’ve figured it out. It’s usually not an issue of hearing. It’s rather the ability to listen (to hear with understanding). How do we “listen” for the voice of God? Who helps us do that? And then, after listening, what is our response?

“What Can This Mean?”

Bible Text: Acts 2:1-21 | Preacher: Pastor Andy Krpata

Pentecost=Poured out power on all people. It‘s a Celebration of Church and Faith: confirmation, the birth of the Church and the 50th anniversary of the United Methodist Church will all be recognized and celebrated. There was something that occurred at Pentecost we don’t talk much about – confusion. At least for a few moments…wind, fire, speaking and hearing in different languages…must have been crazy! Luckily, Peter begins to explain: This is what happens when the Holy Spirit is given. The same is true for us – the church, our confirmands, etc. We need to answer the question… “What Can This Mean?”

“Standing Around Gets You Nowhere”

Bible Text: Acts 1:1-11 | Preacher: Pastor Andy Krpata

We can’t know what it must have felt like to see Jesus go, but we might imagine it was difficult. So the question is, what do we do now? Two angels answer that question for the disciples at the Ascension: “Get your head out of the clouds! Jesus is coming back!” Ever feel like Jesus has left the building (or, is absent from your life)? At some point, we’re going to have to stop hoping for the proverbial miracle that makes it all ok and learn to live life guided by the Holy Spirit.

We certainly won’t forget to celebrate our mothers on this special day as well!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Masking will remain optional at Wesley Church

In order to help you make an informed decision about your own mitigation practices, Wesley Church will share our county’s updated risk category and the CDC’s corresponding guidelines in each edition of our weekly enews.
We are currently in the “high risk” category. The CDC guidelines for the “high” category are:

Wear a mask indoors in public

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines

Get tested if you have symptoms

Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness
