The Sixth Day:
Six Geese A-Laying
Geese are amazingly dedicated and self-sacrificing animals. A mother goose (who, by the way, can lay up to fifty eggs a year!) gives fully of herself to protect her eggs. She will pluck her own feathers out until her own skin lays bare in order to place feathers as a layer of insulation around the nest. She will sit on her eggs for almost a month in order to protect them from predators and the elements, and will even give her own life to ensure their survival. She does this all on her own. It’s a lonely job, but an important one. Birthing and nurturing new little goslings takes serious work!
You probably know of people in your life who are nurturing and hardworking. They give tirelessly of themselves to launch or maintain a ministry. They selflessly care for relatives or friends who are in need. They are diligent and unflagging in their volunteer work. They don’t do it for the glory or the prestige… but they could probably use some encouragement.
On this sixth day, encourage those in your life who give tirelessly of themselves for others. Let them know that their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Find some way to show your appreciation for them… nurture and encourage them a bit!
And remember, friends:
