It’s been a busy and exciting week in the Wesley Church Community Garden! We’ve been hard at work planting and fencing beds as quickly as we can. With a little “chomping action” from some local critters, we’re racing to get everything in the ground and protected. The good news? No one seems to have a taste for eggplant—so at least we’ve got that on our side!
So far, we’ve planted:
- 30 eggplants
- 40 peppers
- 30 tomatoes
- 20 strawberries
- radish, beet, and carrot seeds
…and we’re still going! Looking ahead, we’ve got two blueberry bushes on order that should be arriving soon!
On the infrastructure side, the front gate posts have been concreted, and we’ll be installing and securing new fencing this week to keep everything safe and thriving. With a stretch of beautiful weather ahead, we’ll be out in the garden every evening from around 7:00 PM until dark. If you’ve been thinking about stopping by to lend a hand, we’d love to have you join us!
Thanks to everyone who has already contributed time, energy, and support—this garden is truly growing because of you. For more information on our church’s Community Garden, or to sign up for the “Growing Together” garden newsletter, please contact Christine Bell.
