Library Used Book Sale

Remember to plan some extra time on Sunday May 4 to browse through the books in our used book sale in the Atrium. Stock up for summer reading! And, if you are interested, we have a particularly nice selection of serious religious reference books this time around. Proceeds support our church library and leftovers go to the public library for their sales.

We also need volunteers to help pack the leftovers starting about noon on May 4. If you are able to help, contact Karen Schaefer (610-737-1339) or Barbara Reimers (610-694-0767).

Mother’s Day Giving Tree Donations Due

In honor of Mother’s Day, this month’s Giving Tree will benefit the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown. The shelter assists families experiencing homelessness to secure safe housing through family-centered services, in-house programming, and referrals to community resources, all while advocating that affordable housing is a human right. 

We will be collecting toilet paper, new shower curtains and rings, and new sets of glasses and plates. We will also pamper the moms of the shelter with gift bags of lotions, deodorant, toothpaste, and makeup. Donations are due by Sunday May 4. Thank you for your continued support to the community! Adult “Bible Talk”

Do you have a new year’s resolution to grow in your faith? Join us this Sunday for our Bible Talk group for adults! This group meets each Sunday at 9:00 AM (during the Sunday School hour) in the Parlor. The discussions each week include Bible interpretations, appreciation of God’s creativity, and applications to real life. All are welcome! 

Donations for Emergency Food Bags

In recent months, we have experienced an increase in the number of individuals coming to our church in need of food. While we also support the work of the New Bethany food pantry, we want to keep a supply of emergency food bags on hand to help meet this need. If you would like to support this effort, please bring any of the items listed below (or pack and drop off an entire bag!). Each emergency food bag will include: 

  • Cans of tuna or chicken (2 cans per bag)
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Canned fruit
  • Microwaveable mac and cheese
  • Box of cereal
  • Canned pasta (2 cans per bag)
  • Canned soup (2 cans per bag)

To donate individual items or complete emergency food bags, please bring your items to church and place them in the collection area in the atrium. For more information, please contact Debbie Ace. 

At-Home Communion

If you typically worship from home via our weekly livestream, we want to offer you the opportunity to receive communion even at home! If you would like to receive communion elements for those weeks when we are celebrating communion in worship, please contact Pastor Candy. 

Hospitality Team

Fellowship Hour on Sunday mornings is an important part of building community, and our Hospitality Team offers Fellowship Hour treats all throughout the program year. We’re seeking additional volunteers to help in this effort, offering baked goods, fruit, and more. If you would like to be added to the rotation for our Hospitality Team, please contact Jan Schultz.
