I would like to warmly invite you to join us for Bishop’s Day on the North District on Sunday October 18, at 4:45 PM at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church (83 S. Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg, PA).
We will begin with worship at 4:45 PM, followed by a time of conversation and Q&A with Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi. We will conclude our gathering around the Lord’s Table as we celebrate Holy Communion together.
My hope is that this will be more than simply another district gathering. It will be an opportunity for clergy and laity from across the North District to come together as one body of Christ—to worship, listen, ask questions, strengthen our connection with one another, and be reminded that we share in one mission together.
During worship, we will also receive a special offering for Allentown: Emmanuel UMC, whose church property was damaged by a tornado. Emmanuel is facing a $50,000 insurance co-payment, and this offering will be one way for the churches of the North District to stand with them in a difficult season. I hope our generosity that evening will be a visible expression of what it means to be a connectional church: when one congregation is hurting, we do not leave them to carry the burden alone.
