Services
Sunday morning worship is the center of our life at Wesley Church. We order our personal and community life around the gathering of God’s faithful people in vital, faithful, and biblical celebration. Places for Christians to serve in worship ministries are open to all ages in being an usher, lay readers of the Scriptures, communion stewards who serve with the Pastor at Table, music and seasonal decorating.
Communion Stewards
During the celebration service, the Communion Stewards help to serve Holy Communion, either by holding a chalice or a basket with the bread. Typically eight stewards will serve during a service, two in each of the four lines. Two of the stewards will have been asked in advance to prepare the communion table before the service, and two will have been asked in advance to clear the table after the service. Written instructions for those tasks are provided in the sacristy. The stewards are assigned to particular services on a rotating basis.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month during the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services and at special evening services for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
Music

Seasonal Decorations
During the Holy Seasons we hang greens, put up a tree, hang banners, set out potted plants and decorate the Education Wing hallway. Workers are needed for planning and doing. Connect with Becky.
Ushers
Usher teams welcome all of us as we enter the sanctuary. They light candles, hand out bulletins, assist with seating, send the offering plates across the pews, and collect Prayer Request Cards. Ushers teams are assigned to work for a month at a time, two or three times a year. They are needed for both Sunday worship services and for other special services throughout the year. Ushers need to arrive 30 minutes prior to the service. Connect with Louise.
Lay Readers
The readings of the Bible texts for the day are shared by ministerial staff and lay members of our congregation. Lay reader team members are assigned to read about four times a year during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The text of the readings, along with instructions, is mailed or emailed to the lay reader during the week before the Sunday they are to read. The reader sits in the congregation until the time in the service when the reading is to be done; then he or she proceeds up to the lectern. Connect with Ardis.
