Pastor Bob will bring the message on the “I Am” statement: “I am the Good Shepherd,” and “I am the Gate (or Door) for the sheep.” A good shepherd always watched over the sheep coming in and going out. We can see why the Bible compares people to sheep. We all spend our lives traveling through a similar doorway. Every one one of us is constantly moving between a search for familiarity and a return to security. Deep inside of every human heart is a desire to be loved. We want to know we matter and that someone genuinely cares about us. Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd” because he is the gate. He’s paid the rent. He’s invested in us. We matter to him.
