Wider Circle Book Club
Starting this November, join Pastor Candy for the first session of the “Wider Circle” Book Club. This book club will take place in the library every other Monday at 12:30 PM, starting November 4. Why a daytime book club? It’s our hope to connect with some of our Wesley Circle of Friends preschool families with a schedule that coincides with preschool pickup, as well as to connect with those in our church who have flexible daytime/lunchtime schedules. That’s one way we can draw our Wesley “circle” even wider!
Our first selection will be Rachel Held Evans’ Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving, and Finding the Church, a personal memoir about the beautiful messiness of community, faith, and grace.
For more information, or to sign up for the book club, please contact Pastor Candy in the church office.
Bethlehem Interfaith Group
On Sunday, November 17, the Bethlehem Interfaith Group (BIG) will host an interfaith Thanksgiving gathering at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem. Thanksgiving is a holiday that we celebrate not only as people of different faiths, but also as people of one nation. In that spirit, this year’s Thanksgiving event will celebrate unity, diversity, and our shared faith in God while celebrating the diverse stories of those who have immigrated to this country. The event will begin with a gathering time at 2:30 PM, followed by a time of personal stories and shared discussion at 3:00 PM, and a Thanksgiving worship service at 4:00 PM. We hope you will join us for this meaningful and uplifting event!
If you’re new to Wesley, if you’re interested in joining the church, or if you want to deepen your connection and participation in the life of our church, we invite you to join us for a series of “connect sessions” with Pastor Candy. In these sessions, you’ll learn more about our church history and United Methodist identity, discover ways to deepen your discipleship through mission and ministry, and have an opportunity to connect with Pastor Candy through Q&A. These sessions will take place between Sunday morning worship services (10:15-10:55 AM) on November 10, and 17. Those who want to join the church will have an opportunity to do so on Sunday, November 24 during either worship service. (Those who want to join the church should plan to attend all three sessions.)
If you would like to help with hospitality for these sessions (coffee and baked goods needed!), please contact Pastor Candy in the church office.
