Music (OLD SITE)

Chancel Choir

You do not need to know how to read music. You do not need any musical training. You do not need to be talented. And there are choir robes available in all sizes! Connect with Allan.

Celebration Ringers

Our adult handbell choir, the Celebration Ringers, rehearses on Wednesday, 6:15-7:45 p.m. in the Music Room. They ring once a month in the 11:00 a.m. Classic Worship Service. If you have experience ringing handbells and would like to join the group then by all means come to a rehearsal. Connect with Frank.

KlangChor

KlangChor is a beginner’s bell choir for youth and adults. No music experience is necessary and all are welcome to join. We will show you how to ring bells and read music. Rehearsals are on Sunday from 8:45-9:30 a.m. in the Music Room. Connect with Frank.

GlockenChor

Our GlockenChor is a beginner’s chime choir for children in Second through Sixth Grade. We explore all the elements of a ringing choir in a simplistic and fun manner. There is no need to have a music background before participating in this group. It meets Sunday mornings from September through April in the Music Room situated next to the Atrium. The chime choir provides an opportunity for the Wesley Church children to take an active role in our worship services on a regular basis. The children perform approximately once each month. Connect with Heather.

KinderChor

Our KinderChor is a voice choir for children Pre-K through Sixth Grade. It practices Sunday mornings from September through April in the Library situated next to the Atrium. The choir practice times are full of fun learning as we sing the tunes and explore the meaning of the words. Children’s choirs provide an opportunity for the Wesley Church children to take an active role in our worship  services on a regular basis. The children perform approximately once each month. Connect with Heather.

Ensemble

This group provides music for our 9 a.m. Contemporary Worship Service. The music is contemporary as compared to “traditional” hymn singing, accompanied by piano and acoustic guitars. The singing is led by several voices. We use selections from The Faith We Sing, contemporary United Methodist Hymnal, as well as songs and choruses that come from popular, contemporary Christian music. There is congregational singing as well as an anthem each week. The music is selected to connect with the theme of the day as related to scripture, preaching, and theme verse so that there is a common thread throughout the service. Connect with Becky.

Tracker Organ

Our Sanctuary organ is a combination mechanical (tracker) and electronic instrument with three major divisions (33 ranks, 1680 pipes) and a three-manual console. Connect with Allan.

Music @ Wesley Series

A series of chamber, choral, piano, and organ concerts are held in our Sanctuary throughout the year.

Masking will remain optional at Wesley Church

In order to help you make an informed decision about your own mitigation practices, Wesley Church will share our county’s updated risk category and the CDC’s corresponding guidelines in each edition of our weekly enews.
We are currently in the “high risk” category. The CDC guidelines for the “high” category are:

Wear a mask indoors in public

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines

Get tested if you have symptoms

Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness

Today’s Community Connections

  • If you are interested in providing fresh flowers for worship, please sign up at the Connections Corner table.
  • Feel like you missed something? The Connections Corner table can help. Head across the atrium and get the information you need just under the tv monitor.
  • Don’t receive our Weekly Enews? Please email Pastor Candy at: pastorcandy@wesleychurch.com to get on the list! Or sign up at the Connections Corner table.
  • Do you enjoy being creative with pictures and video?  Do you like telling a story through images?  We are looking for people who enjoy making videos, who can use technology to help represent some of the music we use in worship, and possibly other parts of the worship service such as announcements, testimonies, and more.  If this interests or excites you, please see Becky Graybeal for more details and to get plugged in!
