Hi, I’m Chris Perfetti and I am so excited to be joining the Wesley UMC team as bell choir director I am mom to Elizabeth (26) and Emily (21) and we live in Bangor. For the past 5 ½ years, I have been the Bell Director at East Stroudsburg UMC. I have played handbells for 30+ years. When my girls were younger, they played in the Chimers group. So, when extra help/hands were needed, I played too. As they advanced to Youth Bells (now called Intermediate Bells), I filled in. During these years, I continued to play in our Adult Bells (Advanced group). Over the years, one of our directors “retired” and the other director went back to college. This caused an issue, because, as you are aware, bell directors are not easy to find. Through prayer, I decided to step in as the new director. At that time, we had our Chime Choir-beginning level, Youth/Intermediate choir, and our Adult/Advanced Choir. When COVID hit, as in many churches, we lost our Chime and Intermediate Bell groups. It was a challenge to find a large enough space, with good air circulation, to continue with the Advanced Bells. I found an area to spread everyone out, and God provided the rest. At the end of 2021, I felt God was moving me in a new direction for worship. I attended Palm Sunday service at Wesley UMC. As I was looking on the website for service times, I saw that Wesley was looking for a Handbell Director. I prayed about it, spoke with a member of Wesley church, applied, and as they say, the rest is history. I look forward to many years, new challenges, and new growth for the Bell programs at WUMC. Handbells, to me, play an important role in worship. Not only do they bring Praise, but they offer an opportunity for, many hands, to bring the Praise. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself. It may take me a little bit to remember names, but it will happen. See you at rehearsals!
