Start your Lenten journey at Wesley Church!
Join us on Wednesday February 14 at 12 noon for a brief service of palm burning. The ashes from Ash Wednesday are made by burning the palms from last year’s observance of Palm Sunday. Join us outside the front doors of the church as we burn the palm, grind the ashes, mix them with oil, and begin our observance of Lent in prayer. If you saved any palms from last spring, you are welcome to bring them with you to this time of ritual and prayer.
Ash Wednesday: Blended Worship
Join us on Wednesday February 14 at 7:30 PM for a blended Ash Wednesday worship experience. Through traditional hymns, contemporary praise songs, sacred prayers, and the rituals of holy communion and imposition of ashes, we will mark the start of our Lenten journey together.
Labyrinth Walking on Ash Wednesday
Our church’s labyrinth is a powerful resource for prayer — particularly in the season of Lent! On Ash Wednesday, our prayer labyrinth will be open in the atrium for walking from 12:30 PM to 7:30 PM. (The labyrinth will not be open for walking after the evening worship service.) We invite you to stop by the church between those hours for a time of quiet, prayerful walking.
Many thanks to the Wesley Men’s Group for setting up our prayer labyrinth! Volunteers are needed to remove the prayer labyrinth on Thursday February 15. If you would like to help in this way, please contact Pastor Candy or arrive at the church at 12 noon.
